Windblown as a Leaf

Never like a windblown leaf
Caught amidst a hurricane
So listless, lost
And tattered,
Battered by the stab of rain
And how the moment
Split like the land
That bursts like a bloody gash
Upon the hot-baked broken sand
Never to come together.
Empty chambers,
Vast with nought,
That tremble like a torch
Sputter gutter in the wind
With not a flame to scorch
Oh how she blows away like dust
The ashes of an outline
Crumble in that wayward gust
To leave the landscape bare
Where footprints stop, like stranded ghosts
With no one, standing there.
